About this speaker

I have both a social work and nursing background, working for 18 years for an central London borough supporting vulnerable adults with a range of physical and mental health needs living in the community. During this time I held many different roles but finding that as my career progressed I became less hands on, I decided in 2011 to leave social care and move into nursing and retrained as a children’s nurse at London South Bank University. On qualifying I joined a rotation programme at Great Ormond Street Hospital spending 6 months on 3 different wards. I then took up a permanent position in 2013 on the Bone Marrow Transplant ward and worked through my clinical competencies and banding before I took on the role of Ward Sister in 2019. It was on my long commute into London one day that I saw the advert for the Family Liaison Lead role at Demelza and joined Team Demelza in 2020 to reshape and redesign support to families but also ensuring we could adapt to support families through the Covid pandemic.
